Hey, Mischa here. Aadi is off at a conference this week with our author, so I’m manning the blog. Today I am here with Wendy Robichaud who stars in 10 Steps to Girlfriend Status by Cynthia Toney.
[Mischa] Who or what are you? What are your vitals?
[Wendy] I’m Wendy Robichaud, a 14-year- old freshman girl who is Catholic and half-Cajun. I attend a public high school.
[Mischa]What part do you play in the story?
[Wendy]I’m the main character in 10 Steps to Girlfriend Status, which is part of the Bird Face series for teens. Everything that happens in my stories is seen through my point of view.
[Mischa] How would you describe your book?
[Wendy] 10 Steps to Girlfriend Status is a contemporary, realistic story that contains elements of mystery and
romance. The mystery is about something that happened in my family a long time ago. I simply had to find out about it!
[Mischa] Tell me about where you live? Who do you live with?
[Wendy] I live in Louisiana, where we often see alligators and seldom see snow. My mom and I lived by ourselves for years, but she remarries at the beginning of this book. Now we have a big family, which includes a stepsister and little stepbrother for me.
[Mischa] What’s the most important thing in your life right now?
[Wendy] Two things: becoming David’s girlfriend and getting along with my new stepsister!
[Mischa] What do you like or dislike about the other characters from your book?
[Wendy] I love Mrs. Villaturo, my neighbor. Mrs. V has been like a grandmother to me. And I really like her grandson, Sam. We didn’t hit it off at first, but now we’re friends. He’s deaf, but he reads my lips and speaks to me because I don’t know American Sign language yet. I plan to learn soon!
[Mischa] In your opinion, what is your best feature?
[Wendy] My eyes. Good thing they’re big, to balance out my nose.
[Mischa] What’s the worst thing someone ever did to you?
[Wendy] In my first book, 8 Notes to a Nobody, a bully called me Bird Face every chance he got. But the worst thing he did was ruin one of my pieces of art. It was piece of scenery I’d painted for our junior high’s production of Oklahoma!
[Mischa] What’s the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?
[Wendy] My puppy, Bella, when she was a newborn. My best friend and I found her with her mother and brothers and sisters. Someone had abandoned them, so my friend and I took care of them until we found them good homes.
[Mischa] Final question and then I’ll let you get back to chasing after David. Who would play you in the movie?
[Wendy] I think Anna Kendrick.
