I’m finally getting my health issues under control. For the past five years, breathing was difficult. And, when breathing is difficult so is everything else. I barely had enough energy to do the things I had to do so writing, and reading, were abandoned.
Now, I’m back at it and trying to go through all of my old files to figure out what I have started and left undone as well as what I’ve published, what’s still in publication, and reread what I’ve written.
I have print copies of the magazine articles I wrote over a decade ago, but I don’t have print copies of most of my fiction. I’m not even sure I have a copy of Path of Angels when I first published it. It might be hiding in a box, but who knows.
The computer files of my writing are a mess. There are copies, drafts, rewrites, etc spanning multiple computers with poorly written file names tucked into Google Docs, my harddrive, dropbox, and email. When I find a file that looks suspiciously like something I’ve written, it gets copied into Scrivener.
There is no way to tell if the copy I have is the final copy that was printed. It is likely an unedited version that will need to be spruced up again if I plan to republish anywhere else. Every story will have to be evaluated as to whether it should be republished or retired. I won’t bother searching for the ones I know will be retired.
In all there are a dozen or so novels, a handful of short stories, and a gazillion story scraps that I’ve found so far. Some of the ones I know I wrote seem to have disappeared, never to be found. Ah well. There are plenty more to come.
Stay tuned. I’ll have more updates soon.
