The project that I’m working on with three time Dragon Award Finalist, Declan Finn, has begun. The working title of Dark Court has been scrapped. I never liked that title anyway.
The new title is The Ri: Changlings
It’s the beginning, I hope, of a YA Irish urban fantasy series set in New York City. We are roughtly 16Kwords in with about 65K or so to go. I have a feeling that this is going to end up far longer than planned. The goal is to have the first draft finished before Dragon Con. We’ll see.
We have such different writing styles and he writes fairly clean first drafts, whereas I write in layers with multiple passes.
After that, the real work begins of getting the raw story into a finished product and to a publisher.
With all of the problems occurring with traditional publishing, especially the big 5 publishers, I’m a bit hesitant to go that route, but we’ll see.
Getting the book finished is the first priority, though. We will be needing beta readers at some point. So if you’re interested, let me know.
In other news, I signed a contract with Superversive Press for my short story which will be appearing in the anthology MAGA: 2020 and Beyond. I am also working on the cover for that project, which is almost finished. Watch SuperversiveSF.com for the official cover reveal. Projected release date is November 8, 2017.
