Today is Day 1 of 2016 Nanowrimo and once again I am joining the insanity. As usual I don’t expect to win, because, well, I have work outside of writing. And I’m slow.
When I pulled up the website to enter my novel, it showed me all of the previous years that I’ve done Nano. I wanted to cry.
2012 Path of Angels
This series began way back then as just an idea. I completed a whopping 11K words on it that year. A few months later I had a completed first draft. That first draft was beyond rough. There were places where it was nothing more than dialogue or [describe town]. It’s not quite finished, but it’s around 45K today.
2013 Courage of Martyrs
I started on Book 2 of the series the following year and wrote just under 8K that year. Somewhere along the way I finished the first draft and then mysteriously lost part of it. At some point I have to rewrite the missing peices and then spiff up the rough draft that I have.
2016 Relic Hunter
This year, I am working on Relic Hunter. I’ve gotten the first draft down and have 300 or so words written on it for Nano. I couldn’t sleep last night, so I wrote. My goal is to get the first draft written, regardless of how short or crappy it is, but we’ll see.
I’m not exactly sure what happened in 2014 & 2015. But, I’m going to make up for it this year.
Wish me luck!
