This weekend, a friend passed away. I didn’t know him well. We were on the board at Mary’s Choice and I’ve been to his house when his wife and I were working on Mary’s Choice business.
I do know he was a great guy who was passionate about his Catholic faith and about the pro-life mission.
It was kind of a shock when I got the text from his wife Saturday afternoon telling me he had died that morning of a heart attack. He was not in poor health and continued to farm and raise sheep. It was totally unexpected.
The one thing I recall about him is that he had his priorities straight. God first, then family, then everything else.
With working all the time, sometimes I forget this. I’m so busy with deadlines and checking things off of my to-do list that God, friends and family get lost in the shuffle.
I forget to stop and enjoy life in the present. To not worry about that which I can’t change. To not worry about that which I can’t control.
To focus on what is important in life: God first, then family, then everything else.
