Outlining A Novel Is Hard

I’ve started working on my Dragon Award “winning” novel.

Currently I’m creating the outline.

Yeah. It’s not going so well.

Sometimes the whole story is there in my mind, completely fleshed out an ready to roll.

This time, not so much.

But, I have to have an outline or my book will be all over the place.

The story revolves around the theft of a priceless religious relic on loan to the Vatican for the cannonization of the saint.

The Vatican hires Darrion Artenan to recover the relic…quietly.

If the news that the relic was stolen, it could start and interplanetary war.

So…I have to figure out how it was stolen and what the thief did after the theft, I have to figure out how Darrion is going to find the relic.

I have the opening figured out, but where to go after that has me stumped.

Hmmm…what do you all do when outlining?
