It’s almost two months into this year and I thought I would check out to see how I’m doing (or not doing) on the resolutions I set in January.
First and foremost, I need to get off my ass and get Path of Angels ready for publication. I will get this done this year if it kills me.
Second – have more fun and spend less time working.
Third – figure out how to reconcile resolution #1 with resolution #2.
Fourth – read more fiction.
Fifth – finish several more stories in the Relic Hunter Series.
Sixth – do more art.
Lastly, get out from behind my computer and go places and do stuff.
One: is coming along. I’m not as far as I should be, but it’s getting there. With edit/rewrites/add-tos my pitiful word count is inching up. My new goal is to have it done before Catholic Writers Conference Live in July, which looks like it’s do able as long as I keep plugging away on it.
Two: is a miserable failure. If I’m not busy working and keeping myself occupied, anxiety creeps in. Once I see some progress towards my goals, I should be able to slack off a bit more. I am however sneaking in more time to read.
Three: is still a work in progress. Between a day job, volunteer work, a massive to-do list and freelance work, my schedule gets crazy. But, I also need to stay sane. I can’t do that if I’m working ALL THE TIME.
Four is a win.
So far this year, I’ve finished:
- The List by Steve Martini
- It Was Only On Stun by Declan Finn
- Kissed by Kimberly Loth
And I’m currently reading/listening to:
- Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
- Naked In Death by J.D. Robb
I also have a bunch of books on my to-be-read list. I’m already leaps and bounds ahead of last year.
Five: is a partial win. I have finished the next one, Saint Sasha’s Locket. It will be out soon. I am working on outlining several more. Ultimately, I will be putting the stories along with “fact sheets” about some the planets and creatures in the stories as well as artwork and author notes.
Six: is a win, but I need to keep going. Here is a quick drawing I did of one of the plants in my day job’s office.
Last: is a partial win. If the weather would cooperate, getting out for walks/runs would be so much easier. The fun part is harder since this town is so boring.
