National Novel Writing Month is here and I’m exactly two days behind on writing my novel. This year I was going to work on my adult novel “In the Land of Crazies” but have decided to switch to working on my middle grade mystery Emmetsburg Angels: Mary’s Gone Missing. Assumption Catholic church has been broken into and the statue of Mary is gone. A group of kids along with their fearless leader and baseball coach, Father Andrew, try to find out who stole it and why.

I got the idea to write a series of children’s books for Catholic kids from a Evangelical Protestant series that came out during the fifties. The writing in that series wasn’t very good, but it brought faith together with a solid fun story. That is my goal for this series, a solid, fun story that doesn’t cram religion down kids throats, but gives them a good example to live by.
